Women's Team all out to maintain title challenge

by Ayrton Galea - 15th April 2014

Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to maintain their momentum, and to keep their place at the top of the BOV Women's First Division League, when this evening they take on Gozo FC.

The impressive 5-0 victory of Birkirkara over Hibernians in the last match blew the title race wide open once again, as the Stripes are now leading the table with the same Paolites. The empathic win, which was the biggest win over Hibernians in Birkirkara's history, showed Birkirkara's real strength, with just two matches to go till the end of the league.

On the other hand, Gozo are fourth in the standings with twenty-seven points from sixteen matches. The Gozitans, who started their season on a bright note, saw their hopes of challenging with the top two teams, cut short in the first round. However, they are still challenging for the third place and currently they lie four points behind Mgarr but the latter have a game in hand.

These two sides met twice this season and both matches were won by Birkirkara with 4-0 and 4-1 results respectively.

The match will be played at the Luxol Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 18:00.

Come on the Stripes!
