'We are not just going to defend' - Rowen Muscat

by Ayrton Galea - 23rd July 2015

Rowen Muscat said that the Stripes will be banking on their strong team not to just defend against West Ham United, FC as they will be seeking to play their game.

It was only a goal from a corner kick one minute from time that broke the Birkirkara's resilience in the away match against West Ham. Rowen told us, “We knew that we are going to meet a strong team and it would be a tough challenge so tactically we prepared very well. As could be seen during the, match tactically we were very disciplined and that led us to get a good result away from home, against such a strong team, where we only conceded a goal in the last minutes by corner.”

Rowen has been playing as a destructive midfielder for the last years, but under the guidance of coach Tedesco, the midfielder has been given the nod to push forward, and he was among the best players in the last match. “I am a mobile midfielder, so I can play as a holding midfielder, and I can play as an attacking midfielder. I used to play as holding where, I swept in front of the back four, and I helped the team destructively, but now can help the team more in offence too. So I'm going to work hard on this position, too to improve my abilities”.

The subject changed to today's match, and despite Rowen having his feet on the ground, he showed believe in strong team. “We are not going to just defend against, West Ham but we are going to play our game, because we know too that we have a strong team. Tactically we are going to be disciplined like in the last match but we worked on some situations, that we lacked preparation for in the last match.”

Rowen concluded by saying, “I would like to take the opportunity to thank the supporters for coming and supporting us away from home too, because they made a big difference. I am sure that today they will come in numbers to give us their support, which is well needed.”
