Raina Giusti called-up with the National Team

by Ayrton Galea - 23rd November 2015

Raina Giust has been selected for the first time to join the Women's National Team. She will be joining another six Birkirkara FC Women's Team players, for the Women's National Team two friendly matches against Azerbaijan.

Enjoying an outstanding form in the BOV Women's First Division League, Raina Giusti has been rewarded for her efforts, as she has been called-up with the National Team for the first time in her career, at the age of eighteen years. The other six players are goalkeeper Janice Xuereb, Stephania Farrugia, Yasmeen Vella, Gabriella Zahra, Alishia Sultana and Kim Parnis, who are all established team players with the National Team.

Giusti, the Birkirkara winger who is the team's top scorer with five goals, has produced electrifying performance during this league campaign and the call-up is certainly not a surprise for Women's football followers. The speed and technique defines her as one of the best attacking players on the island.

We talked with Raina following her call up with the National Team. She started by saying, "It was a big surprise. It was my aim and I was working very hard for it but I wasn't expecting it now. It motivates me to continue working hard. There is always room for improvement and I want to continue improving."

She added, "Our Coach is helping me a lot. He is continually motivating me and I am very happy to see myself improving, after following his instructions. He talks to me after every game to encourage me to continue working hard and improving."

The two friendly matches will be played next Wednesday and next Friday at the Centenary Stadium and are scheduled to kick off at 19:00.

We would like to congratulate Raina Giusti for her call-up, while wishing the best of luck to National Team for the friendly matches.
