Matthew Psaila appointed Team Manager

by Ivan Mizzi - 23rd June 2016

Birkirkara FC has appointed Mr. Matt Psaila as the new senior team's manager. Matt enjoys a vast experience in football in both administration and technical level, and during the last season he was the team manager of Zebbug Rangers FC, in the BOV First Division.

Following a long spell involved in hand-ball, including with the National Team, during the 2014-2015 season, Matt was elected to the committee of Pieta Hotspurs and occupied the role of assistant treasurer while he was also the team manager of the team.

We asked Matt for his first comments since joining our Club. He said “I wanted to join a club that is organised, well established and very ambitious. When Dr. Delia and I first started talking about the role, I immediately saw the commitment that the club committee showed towards the club and the players. After meeting Dr. Delia, I met with Coach Drazen Besek, who clearly explained what he expected from a team manager. Both Dr. Delia and Mr. Besek set very high expectations and that is the challenge I was looking for.”

He added, “I think it is great to form part of such a big club, I really see this as something long term, and have the opportunity to grow and become better at what I do. Having spent this week with the players at the training grounds, I must say that I have never seen such a great bunch of players, the atmosphere is amazing. I strongly believe that I am now at a club where I can not only dream of winning, but actually win!”

We would like to welcome Matt Psaila while we wish him all the best of luck in his adventure with our Club.
