Stripes to face leaders Balzan

by Ayrton Galea - 16th October 2016

Birkirkara FC will be back in action in the BOV Premier League and they will be seeking to narrow the gap with leaders Balzan FC when they face each other in the clash of the week.

The Stripes are coming from a mixed-fortune sequence as they only picked-up four points in the last four matches. A surprise defeat to Sliema Wanderers was followed by a narrow victory over Mosta. However, they suffered another unexpected loss against bottom-placed Pembroke Athleta before sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Valletta.

On the other hand, opponents Balzan have registered an almost perfect start after seven matches as they only dropped two points in the 2-2 draw against Valletta and they are the only remaining unbeaten side in the lead. Balzan are coming from three consecutive victories and they defeated St. Andrew's with a 3-1 score in their last outing.

Coach Drazen Besek must do without Predrag Jovic who will be serving a one-match ban but on the plus side, Christian Bubalovic is set for a return following a muscle injury which has kept him out of play for the last two months.

The match will be played at the Victor Tedesco Stadium and it will kick off at 17:15.

Come on the Stripes!
