Stripes seek to move third as they take on Gzira

by Ayrton Galea - 29th April 2017

Birkirkara FC have a good opportunity to move to the third place of the BOV Premier League, when tomorrow evening they take on Gzira United FC.

The Stripes are occupying the fourth place, but they will move to the third place if they beat the Maroons after Valletta slipped to another defeat, this time with a 2-0 score against Tarxien Rainbows.

Birkirkara are coming from a nine-match unbeaten run. They have been in excellent form that saw them defeating Balzan, holding Valletta and went on to defeat Hibernians with a 2-0 score in the last match, despite having to play for more than thirty-five minutes with a player less.

On the other hand, Gzira United, who already secured their position in the BOV Premier League, are in the ninth place with thirty-three points. They are coming from a positive 1-1 draw against Floriana, after they were beaten by Hibernians with a 2-0 score.

Coach Nikola Jaros is unable to field his best formation as offensive duo namely Miguel Alba and Srdjan Dimitrov are suspended. Cain Attard is ruled out till the end of the season with a knee injury.

The match will be played at the National Stadium and it will kick off at 18:00. Transport from Valley Road will leave at 16:30.

Come on the Stripes!
