Birkirkara have managed to put three past Valletta goalkeeper Andrew Hogg and concede just one to beat the 'Citizens' 3-1

This victory, which will surely will be remembered for its interesting twist in events, meant that now Valletta cannot keep on claiming their unbeaten status anymore, as apart from the defeat itself, our side has given their title hopes a clear kick in the teeth.

Birkirkara was the best team in the pitch during most of the ninety minutes, and in fact it was our side that went ahead after twenty-minutes, when a Shaun Bajada corner-kick, wasn't dealt with well by the Valletta defence, with the ball ending in Michael Galea's feet who struck a thunderous shot to put the Birkirkara Ultras and supporters in total delirium.

The Valletta supporters enjoyed a rare spell of pleasure ten minutes later, when Jamie Pace headed-in a corner by Gilbert Agius.

The first-half ended 1-1

Chances in the second-half were few and far between, as both sides tried to press on for the victory. For the first time in several matches, luck was on the Birkirkara end as a mistake by Andrew Hogg following a Shaun Bajada corner, saw Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza heading the ball into the net after eighty-six minutes.

With the Valletta supporters heading for the exits, Birkirkara made it three when Paul Fenech served substitute Kiril Mikhaylov, whose low shot beat Hogg for the third time during the match. A goal which put the icing on the cake for the Birkirkara Ultras and supporters who challenged the cold weather, and came to Ta'Qali to support their courageous players.

Well Done Yellows!
