Positive result for Birkirkara in Croatia

Unlike the previous season, where Birkirkara suffered a heavy 4-0 away defeat against Hajduk Split, this year the boys in 'Stripes' despite fielding a very inexperienced side, managed to achieve a highly respectable 1-0 defeat result.

The only goal of the match was conceded after just thee minutes, when a Slaven Belupo indirect free-kick from Omar Borg's left, was mis-handled by the keeper, only for the Croats to take a very early lead.

This was the wake-up call that the Birkirkara players needed, as from that moment on, the game was very balanced, with the best chance of the game for 'The Stripes' falling in the feet of Sean Bajada, who saw his low shot being parried away by the Belupo goalkeeper.

With this result, the Birkirkara fans will surely be hopeful of an attacking performance today week, which accompanied by some good fortune, could lead to a better result than the one acquired at the Grandski Stadium.
