In the Sliema Centennial Cup held on Thursday, Birkirkara achieved a respectable second place after winner Sliema W.
In the first match of this triangular tournament, Birkirkara managed to beat English side Sheffield Wednesday thanks to a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win after the match had ended goalless.
In the second match, hosts Sliema W. beat Sheffield Wednesday by one goal to nil, with the goal being scored by ex-Birkirkara striker, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza.
In the last and decisive match of the evening, Sliema W. beat Birkirkara 2-1, with the first goal of Birkirkara's season being scored by newly acquired signing, Sylvano Comvalius.
