Hibs Tournament commences

In the first match of the Hibernians Carlsberg Tournament, Birkirkara and Qormi played out a one all draw at the Corradino Stadium in Paola.

After just a few minutes, Qormi had a great opportunity to take the lead, but they were denied by the right post.

Mid-way through the first half, Birkirkara had a goal disallowed, as a Paul Fenech cross found Sylvano Comvalius, but the latter was lurking in an offside position.

The clock marked forty minutes, when a Trevor Cilia cross was aimed at Dutch striker Comvalius, who scored the opening goal of the evening.

In the second half, Qormi improved their play, and were rewarded for their efforts when Ronni Hartvig tripped a Qormi striker, and from the spot, they made it 1-1.

Birkirkara pressed for the winning goal, but this wasn't to be, as the Qormi defence managed to clear all that came in it's direction.
