Patrick Borg shares his views about the Champions League
by Ayrton Galea - 24th July 2010After being eliminated from the 2nd round of the Uefa Champions League on Wednesday night, it was time for another youngster to share his views and this time we interviewed Patrick Borg. A player who contributed in no small way during last Wednesday's game, playing the whole ninety minutes.
When asked to comment on the game, Patrick answered, 'We knew what to expect from this match as the speech from our coach said it all. We were adequately prepared and kept fighting to achieve good results till the last minute. Unfortunately, we lost and got eliminated, but we did this with our heads held high'
He went on to say, ' More than thinking that we had just left our mark in Maltese football history by being the first local team which managed to win three consecutive games and by winning a second round game in the Champions League competition, our minds were more focused on Wednesday's game and on continuing to take this dream further. As the coach righteously told us, these are moments in a player's career that may not be re-lived. Every one of us gave his maximum effort and there is no doubt that all of us will remember this last month's experience for the rest of our lives.'
