April Round-up

On Saturday, Birkirkara ended their involvements in the fourth month of the year, and we are going to take you through the highlights of these thirty days. Once again, the lack of consistency was evident, as it was yet again a month of two halves.

In this month 'The Stripes' played five Premier League matches. Of these, they won two, were held twice in a draw and were defeated in the other match.

April could not start on a more negative note as Birkirkara's disastrous performance saw them being humiliated by Floriana with a score of 5-1. As said earlier, this was the only defeat that Birkirkara suffered in this month.

Birkirkara bounced back with a 3-0 against Tarxien Rainbows. Then they failed to win maximum points from the next two matches. First it was a disappointing draw against Hamrun Spartans with a 2-2 score. Then in the match against Valletta, a late equaliser saw end the match in a 1-1 draw. 'The Stripes' were in a difficult task to achieve the second place, and they were even risking the third spot. On a more positive note, in the final match of the month, they registered a 2-0 win, to make sure of the third place, and ended up two points behind the runners up, Floriana.

Team Statistics

Birkirkara registered two wins, two draws and one defeat in this month. They scored nine, and conceded eight goals. In total they used seventeen different players in these five matches. In these matches, Mr Paul Zammit always used the three substitutes available.

In this month Birkirkara were ordered a penalty against Hamrun Spartans, but they failed to convert it as Rowen Muscat's shot was blocked by the goalkeeper. In total Birkirkara conceded no less than 13 yellow cards, and in the two games against Floriana, and Hamrun Spartans respectively, Andrei Agius and Paul Fenech were sent off.
