Difficult test for Birkirkara
by Ayrton Galea - 24th September 2011Birkirkara will be searching to bounce back from two negative results, and pick up a precious three points when they will face unbeaten Sliema Wanderers.
Two weeks ago Birkirkara were dominated by Hibernians with the latter picking a 3-0 easy win and 'The Stripes' looked poised to come back from this negative positive against Mqabba. However, this was not the case as another disappointing performance saw Birkirkara dropping another two important points as the match ended in a 2-2 score.
On the other hand, Sliema Wanderers are still unbeaten in this league campaign. After opening the league's commitments with a 3-3 highly entertaining draw against Hibernians, they registered two wins against Mqabba and Floriana, while in the last match against Marsaxlokk they drew 2-2.
Apart from the regular absence of Shaun Bajada, Birkirkara should be in full strength. Rowen Muscat has recovered from his ankle injury, Leighton Grech who earlier suffered a minor injury with the Malta Under 21 National squad has made it on time and the Nigerian striker Shola Haruna Shodyia is expecting to make his debut as his registration with MFA is now complete.
Birkirkara are currently one point behind Sliema and with a win Birkirkara will have a two point lead over the same Sliema. On the other hand, if Sliema manage to beat Birkirkara, 'The Blues' will open a four point advantage over Birkirkara.
The match will be played in the Hibernians Stadium, and it scheduled to kick off at 19:00. Transport from Valley Road is available and it will leave at 18:00.
Can Birkirkara overcome this difficult test, or 'The Stripes' will continue to drop more points?
