Summer School goes Beach Soccer
by Ayrton Galea - 17th July 2012We are in the school summer holidays, the time for more fun and excitement than usual. The Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery has decided to take part in beach soccer every Thursday, for the children attending the different categories at the Summer School.
Last Thursday, the oldest category, headed by the Nursery's Director of Youth Coaching Marko Glumac, went to the newly created beach soccer pitch at Pembroke on the banks of the Mediterranean Sea. The Beach Soccer initiative was the result of collaboration between Birkirkara FC Youth Nursery and the Pembroke Athleta Football Nursery. The children had a blast, and showed off their skills, while their parents appreciated the organisation behind it.
The other three categories participating in the Summer School will be informed in due course when it is their turn to also have fun at the Beach Soccer Pitch in Pembroke.
The Summer School continues to be an enjoyable experience. As the Nursery's Administrator, Jonathan Barbara said, “There's a feel-good factor at the Nursery right now. The Summer School offers a chance to stave off boredom during the summer holidays, while presenting an opportunity to make new friends, as well as improving football skills and techniques.”
Every Tuesday and Thursday, the children can look forward to a blend of genuine coaching drills, which will teach children to improve their touch on the ball, their passing skills and shooting.
