Under 14 and 15 in Gozo Training Camp
by John Vella - 8th November 2012The Birkirkara Nursery Under 14 and Under 15 teams travelled to Gozo for a training camp between Thursday and Saturday of last week.
Our training camp in Gozo was one we could proudly say was successful. It was very evident that the boys enjoyed the experience. The aims of this training camp were; 1. Enjoyable experience 2. Training and friendly matches 3. Team building.
On Thursday the time was dedicated for the boys to spend quality time together in fact they had time for swimming, walking in the country side and discussions. Friday was a busy day as after breakfast early in the morning we went out for a short walk in the country side and returned to have a group discussion. On the agenda of the discussion were team dynamics and later on it developed into a tactical discussion about the game we played versus Gozo F.C. later on. After the discussion, we went off to lunch where we were served with a plate of pasta, an ideal meal before a match. The match against Gozo F.C followed where we saw our Under 15 team beat Gozo F.C. with 6 goals to 5. The match was played at the Sannat football ground during the game our coach found time to utilize the squad available.
In the same football pitch soon after the match was over our Under 14 team conducted a training session in preparation for Friday's match. Later on in the night, we enjoyed a meal together were we cooked our own food and created a very lively atmosphere which came to the climax when presented our birthday boy Zachary Cassar with a birthday cake. After some cleaning we went off to our bedrooms to have a good rest. Saturday morning started early since we needed to have breakfast in time to check-out from Ta Sbejha Village and head to our next match. This time our Under 14 team faced Nadur, one of the main clubs in Gozo. Once again we managed come out on the winning side as we beat Nadur 6 - 0 in match which we dominated from start to finish. After the match we found the opportunity to take some memorable team photo which we believe the children will cherish throughout their lives. Final on the agenda was the Saturday lunch at Kercem. Soon after we headed to Mgarr and travelled back to Malta in time to have an appropriate rest for our league match against Rabat.
