Birkirkara comfortably beat Mosta
by Jonathan Barbara - 14th November 2012Birkirkara Under 17 team registered a fine victory on Sunday evening when they managed to beat Mosta with a comfortable 5-1 score.
Birkirkara dominated the game from start to finish. The game started on a high tempo with both teams pressing each other high. ‘The Stripes' managed to leave an early impact on the game as within the first 5 minutes the score was already 1-0 in their favour. As time progressed Birkirkara boys continued to dominate the game causing all sorts of problems to the opponents with the consequence that they scored the second and third goal in the process to end the first half 3-0.
In the second half Mosta found the net first to pull one back but having conceded a goal Birkirkara still remained to be the dominant team in the game as the boys managed to keep calm. As Mosta tried to start pilling on some pressure the stripes stood firm at the back and started to launch some very dangerous counter attacks. In fact, the fourth goal was a classic fast counter attack where Birkirkara managed to outnumber their opponents up front and beat the goal keeper to put the game beyond doubt. From this point onwards the game was pretty much one sided were Birkirkara found time to utilize the maximum number of substitutions and scored the fifth and final goal.
Following the match, Coach Marko Glumac commented that, ‘This was another convincing performance where with some polished finishing in front of goal we gained the 3 points we deserved. Well done to the boys!'
