Memorable Reunion for Club's ex-players, coaches and committee members
by Jonathan Pace - 11th February 2014On the 31 January, Birkirkara FC organised a memorable reunion for the players, coaches and committee members that formed part of the Club from the 1972-1973 season till the 1989-1990 season.
The very well attended reunion, which was organised by a team led by Joe B. Grech, Twanny Burlo, Nenu Saliba, and Censu Gauci, was held at the Clubhouse's hall. BKR Radio, led by its Director, Carmelo Calleja, produced a special live programme for the occasion.
The activity turned out to be a very memorable event for all those who attended, as it served to reunite the Club's ex-players, coaches and committee members after a very long time. Some of the best players which have played for the Stripes between 1972 and 1990 attended the reunion, including members of the squads which contested the 1973 and 1990 F.A. Trophy Finals.
It was quite emotional to see the likes of Frans Lula Bonnici, Frankie Pisani, Charlie Spiteri, Nenu Saliba, Freddie Calleja, Joe Bonello, Charles Borg, Todor Raykov, Manuel Lowell, Simon Sammut and others reunite, to reminisce the good old days. The reunion started with a small prayer for the ex-players, coaches and committee members who have passed away.
A special thanks to all those who attended, those who assisted the organisation team, BKR Radio, and the sponsors who supported this event.
