Women's Team set for three wins in a row
by Ayrton Galea - 18th March 2014Birkirkara FC Women's Team are on set to make them three in a row this evening, when they start as hot favourites against bottom-placed Raiders FC.
The Stripes bounced back from the narrow defeat against Mgarr, as they claimed back-to-back victories, to keep the pace with leaders Hibernians before these two heavyweights cross swords next week.
Birkirkara defeated Pembroke Athleta with a comfortable 4-0 score at the start of the third round before cruising past Kirkop United with a dazzling performance and another comfortable score of 5-1.
On the other hand, newly-promoted Raiders are anchored at the bottom of the table with three points from fourteen matches. However, their hopes of retaining their position in the First Division League are still alive as they lie just one point under Pembroke Athleta FC.
Following a comfortable 3-0 victory over Pembroke in the first round, Raiders have now gone nine matches without a point, and this evening they will be seeking to avoid another humilating defeat, after losing with an identical 6-1 score in their last two outings against Gozo and Hibernians respectively.
This season, these two teams met twice in the league and in both occasions, Birkirkara were victorious with scores of 8-1 and 5-1 respectively.
The match will be played at the Luxol Stadium and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15
