Gareth Sciberras renews his contract
by Ivan Mizzi - 20th June 2014Club's Captain and one of the most veteran players in the Birkirkara FC squad, Gareth Sciberras, has renewed his contract with our Club for another two years. This means that Gareth will remain a Birkirkara FC player till the 2015/16 season.
Gareth needs no introduction in Maltese football. The tireless midfielder played an excellent role in the heart of the Birkirkara midfield during the last three years. Gareth had joined our Club in the 2011-2012 season.
During the last season, Gareth made twenty-four appearances in the BOV Premier League. He started twenty-one matches while he was included as a substitute three times while he was voted the BOV Player of the match once.
Following renewing his contract with our Club, we have spoken with Gareth about this decision. He told us, “After going through such an amazing journey during the last 3 years, were as a club and individually we have experienced so many great moments and also difficult moments, I had no problem in extending my time with the club.”
He added on by saying, “Birkirkara F.C. are lucky to have such an amazing group of players, and being Captain of such a group is something that gives me great pride. I believe together we can achieve even more success in the future especially with the help of our impressive technical team and dedicated committee.”
Finally the Club's captain concluded by thanking his family and mentioning the Birkirkara supporters. “I wish to take this moment to thank my loving wife, Daniela and two daughters Ella and Kate, for the immense support and understanding. Finally, I would like to rally on our supporters to get behind the team from day one, as we promise you that we are determined to continue to fight and succeed.”
We would like to wish Gareth all the best of luck while hoping for more superb performances from the Club's captain.
