Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team fell to their second defeat in three matches in the Youths League Section A, when on Thursday evening a controversial sending off proved to be costly as they fell for a 5-0 defeat against Hibernians FC.

The match against Hibernians was expected to be a balanced encountered, and the first forty-five minutes were exactly that. It was a half played on a high tempo , but the controversial sending-off of Leon Muscat just before the half-time whistle changed the match, as Hibernians gained total superiority and hit five past the Stripes.

The First Half

It was a balanced opening to the match as both sides studied their opponents in the first minutes of the first half. The Stripes, made some good movements with their forward line, while Hibernians were relying on their midfield strength to build their scoring opportunities.

The Paolites took the lead just before the half-time whistle when Leon Muscat floored a Hibernians player inside the box, and surprisingly the referee sent off Muscat with Hibernians converting the penalty and headed to their dressing room leading by one.

The Second Half

Down by one and forced to play the whole second half with one player less, the Stripes tried to level matters in the opening minutes of the second half as they went out aggressive but on the hour mark, Hibernians made them two, to deliver the killer-blow to the Stripes.

Demoralised and struggling, Birkirkara were now unable to cape to the Hibernians' strength, and the latter added another three quick goals to register another impressive victory with a 5-0 score.
