Women's Team to face Mgarr United
by Ayrton Galea - 11th November 2015Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to continue building on their back-to-back victories and consolidate their second place in the BOV Women's League when they take on the difficult challenge of Mgarr United FC.
Matches against Mgarr have always been a tough nut to crack, and this evening's match promises to be nothing different as the Stripes and the Greens will go head to head in a direct clash for the second place in the last match of the first round.
The unlucky defeat against Hibernians in the second match of the league seems to have been the wake-up call for the Stripes. They have stepped-up their performance to win maximum points in their last two outings with 2-1 victory against Raiders and 5-0 win over Kirkop United.
With last week's victory, the Stripes climbed alone to the second place with nine points from four matches. Hibernians are leading the table with maximum points from the opening five matches, but Birkirkara have a match in hand.
On the other hand, buoyant by their summer signings, the Greens are highly expected to improve on last year's fourth position. They are currently occupying the third place with seven points, three points under Birkirkara. Following a comfortable 4-0 victory over Pembroke Athleta, they conceded the first defeat last week when they were defeated by Hibernians with a 3-1 score.
The match will be played at the Mgarr Grounds and is scheduled to kick off at 20:15
Come on the Stripes!
