Women's Team to face Kirkop United
by Ayrton Galea - 22nd March 2016Birkirkara FC Women's Team will be seeking to strengthen their second position in the BOV Women's First Division League when this evening, they take on Kirkop United FC.
The Stripes are in the second place with twenty-eighth points, six over Mgarr United who face leaders Hibernians this evening. A win for the Stripes will ensure that they will go to next week's direct clash for the second place against Mgarr with a comfortable six-point lead.
On the other hand, Kirkop are in the fourth place with twelve points. Following a very positive goal-less draw against Mgarr United and a comfortable 3-1 victory over Pembroke Athleta, they were defeated with a 5-0 score in their last outing against Hibernians.
Coach Mr. Jean Pierre Portanier will be boosted by the return of Catherine Campbell who has recovered from a knee injury. However, Kim Parnis is once again unavailable while Isabelle Mazzitelli is ruled-out injured.
Birkirkara has so far won both matches against Kirkop United. In the first-round match, they won with a comfortable 5-0 score thanks to a brace by Kelly Agius Pace and a goal each by Catherine Campbell, Kim Parnis and Maryrose Cardona. On the other hand, a goal in each half by Melissa Stickland and Catherine Campbell gave the Stripes a fine 2-0 victory in the second round.
The match will be played at the Centenary Stadium and it is scheduled to kick off at 20:15.
