Matija Smrekar released

Croatian forward Matija Smrekar will no longer be wearing the yellow-red shirt as he was released by Birkirkara FC.

Matija joined our Club in this year's January Transfer Market. The Croatian forward struggled to find his place with our Club and in his five-month spell with our Club, he made only eight appearances where he scored five goals.

His most important goal arrived on the 12 March, when he struck a beautiful direct free-kick one minute from time to help the Stripes turning the score around and beat Sliema Wanderers with a 2-1 score, to continue in their aspirations of securing a place in the UEFA Europa League.

We would like to thank Matija for his service towards our Club while we wish him the best of luck in his career.
