“Our vision is clear” – Mr. Frank Zarb, Birkirkara FC President
Club's President Mr. Frank Zarb has said that the Club's vision is now clear and will now be aiming to finish in the top positions of the BOV Premier League. The President said that at this stage of the league, everything can happen, and the team will try its best to end in the best possible position.
“The most important thing for us was to get the players that the Coach has asked for. We worked together that the players chosen will form part of the squad for next season. This will help us to start the season with the same core of players with the exceptions of any possible changes to strengthen the team.”
“There are a lot of points to be won and everything can happen. We are now prepared, and our vision is clear. We will give our best shot to obtain a place in the UEFA Competitions.”
“I am very happy with the squad that I have” – Mr. Paul Zammit, Birkirkara FC Coach
Coach Mr. Paul Zammit has made it clear that he's very happy with the squad at his disposal. The Birkirkara Coach admitted that the January Transfer Market was a very intense and tiring one due to the big number of changes that the team needed.
“We knew it was going to be difficult at least till December to set the preferred structure and set-up. Every Coach has his own vision, I found that team and I must say there was a very good investment but there were also players that although they are talented, they do not form part of the squad.”
“We have been working to reach our objectives in this transfer market for so long. It was a very intense and tiring transfer market, due that we needed to change a lot of elements from the squad. However, we reached our objectives and I can say that only one player failed from joining us.”
“I always said that I don't want a very long squad and that the squad must be composed of Maltese players that can make the difference, foreign players that can give us quality both on and off the pitch as well as space for the Youth Academy players.”
“I have been working with the Youth Academy players since I returned, because there might be the possibility to need them. In fact, we needed them and till now, they showed us that they are worth wearing the Birkirkara FC shirt.”
“When I returned with Birkirkara FC, I walked in the dressing and there was no sense of belonging, and this was something that hurt me. With Birkirkara FC, I had a lot of nice memories and I demand that every payer that wears that shirt must have an enormous sense of belonging to the Club.”
“Finally, I must say that with all the circumstances, I am very happy with the squad that I have.”
The Birkirkara Coach also provided an update on Matthew Guillaumier as the midfielder is expected to return to action within one month. In the last week, Guillaumier travelled to Sicily for further assessment on his injury.
