BOV Premier League - Birkirkara FC vs. Gzira United FC
by Ayrton Galea - 19th October 2019Birkirkara FC will be back in action in the BOV Premier League following the international break as they take on Gzira United FC this afternoon in a match that will be played at the Centenary Stadium (Kick-off - 17:15).
The Stripes' long wait for the first victory came to an end in the last match before the break as a goal by Federico Falcone in the first half was enough for them to hold strong and defeat Hibernians FC with a narrow 1-0 score.
The win, which was on the books following a string of positive performances in the last matches, certainly injected more confidence to the Stripes who will be seeking to continue lifting their position in the league standings.
However, their task is anything than easy as Gzira United FC is one of the only two sides that remained unbeaten after six matches. The Maroons are coming from two consecutive victories against Balzan FC and champions Valletta FC respectively.
The team led by former Birkirkara Coach, Giovanni Tedesco struggled to hit the ground running as they registered four draws in the first four matches, but they defeated Balzan FC (2-0) and champions Valletta FC (3-1) to show clear signs of their potential.
Coach Andre Paus should have all squad available except for Yannick Yankam and Jorge Pereira who recently gone under the knife.
