Birkirkara FC failed to return to winning ways in the BOV Premier League as they shared the spoils in a goalless draw against Hamrun Spartans FC in a match played on Sunday.

The Stripes remained anchored in the lower part of the table in the eleventh position as they registered just one win and four draws in eight matches.

The Stripes, who enjoyed an edge over their opponents for most of the first half, were forced to play the last ten minutes with one player less as Matthew Guillaumier was sent off for double booking.

Caio Rocha had a fine shot from inside the box deflected into a corner after ten minutes, while four minutes later, goalkeeper Andrew Hogg performed a good save on a shot by Criaco.

Rocha was involved in the action again in the thirty-ninth minute as following a fine run, his shot ended just over the bar. Three minutes later, a powerful shot by Falcone ended over.

The Stripes should have surged ahead in the added time of the first half. Rocha did another great run before serving Guillaumier in an ideal position inside the box, but the latter's central shot was saved by goalkeeper Manual Bartolo.

The first action of the second half arrived after twenty minutes as  Soufiane Lagzir had a direct free-kick ended over, while six minutes later, Domoraud had a shot from inside the box ending over.

The Stripes suffered a drawback ten minutes from time when Guillaumier received his second yellow card as they were forced to play the last ten minutes with one player less.

Ironically, the Stripes almost surged ahead one minute later. Cain Attard had his shot blocked and from the rebound, Rocha's strike was denied by a great save of Bartolo.

Ryan Fenech hit a thunderous drive that ending wide and three minutes from time, Vella's powerful shot from distance ended wide as the Stripes were forced to settle with a point.
