Edmond Agius was born on the 23 February 1987. He is well-known for his determination on the pitch. The destructive midfielder is considered among the top players in his positions. He joined our Club in the 2014 Summer Transfer Market.
Edmond is a product of the Hibernians Youth Nursery, and he made his debut in the 2005-2006 season. With Hibernians, he played two more seasons where in both the Paolites won the FA Trophy. Through these three years, Edmond played fourty-one matches and scored three goals.
After three years successful years with Hibernians with the National Team, Edmond sought for a new opportunity and he joined Valletta FC in June 2008. With Valletta, he made one hundred and fourty-four appearances and scored sixteen goals. In his six-year spell with the Citizens, he won three times the BOV Premier League, twice the BOV Super Cup and once the National League 100 Anniversary cup.
In the 2014 Summer Transfer Market, Birkirkara FC signed Edmond Agius after the latter’s contract was expired. He signed his contract with our Club on the 21 June 2014. He made his debut with our Club by winning the first silverware as the Stripes defeated Valletta in the BOV Super Cup with a 2-1 score.
His first season with our Club ended with his first major honour, as after winning the BOV Super Cup, the Stripes went on lifting the FA Trophy, which was Agius’ first major honour with this Club. The Stripes won the final with a 2-1 score against Hibernians.
Certainly that the first season of Edmond Agius was a very successful one with our Club. Lifting two out of the possibility of three honours, the BOV Super Cup and the FA Trophy, his first season was a memorable one. During this season, he made thirty appearances and scored one goal.
Edmond experienced a memorable UEFA League Campaign at the start of the following season. The Stripes made it to the second qualifying round after eliminating Ulisses FC, from Armenia, and they registered an incredible 1-0 victory over West Ham United in the second-leg of the second qualifying round. Although West Ham went through by the penalty shoot-out, it was a memorable campaign where Edmond featured in all four matches.
Edmond moved to Sliema Wanderers on a permanent move on the last day of the summer transfer window in August 2017. This brought to an end his spell with our Club, where he played seventy-two matches.
