Emerson Marcelina is Brazilian and he was born on the 24 February 1991. The utility player joined our Club in the 2015 Summer Transfer Market.
Emerson is well known for his destructive abilities in the midfield department, while he can also plays as a central-defender. He was brought on our island by Floriana FC in the 2014-2015 season, after he had spells with Hellas Verona in Italy and more recently with Viitorul in Romania.
Season 2014-2015
In his first season on our island, Emerson enjoyed a brilliant season with the Greens helping them to achieve a respectable fifth place in the BOV Premier League.
Under the guidance of Coach Mr. Giovanni Tedesco, he was a regular choice where he played as a defensive midfielder and as a central-back. He made thirty appearances in the BOV Premier League and he was voted as the Floriana FC’s Player of the Year.
Season 2015-2016
With Birkirkara FC appointing Mr. Giovanni Tedesco as the Club’s Head Coach, it was little surprise that after enjoying a splendid season with him, the Italian Coach will be interested in the signing of Marcelina.
Birkirkara FC reached an agreement with Floriana FC for the permanent transfer of Marcelina and he signed a three-year deal with our Club on Tuesday, 14 July 2015. He made his debut with our Club in the historic 1-0 victory over West Ham United FC in the second leg of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League.
With Emerson finding less space to play than he used to have with Floriana FC, he returned with the Greens on Sunday, 24 January 2016, in the January Transfer Market, on loan till the end of the season.
