With the 2-2 result achieved on Friday evening against hosts Hibernians, Birkirkara FC have put their hands on this year's edition of the Carlsberg Hibernians Tournament.

Birkirkara's offensive intentions were clearly shown form the very first whistle by the match official, as 'The Stripes' were seemingly very confident of securing this Pre-Season title.

After twelve minutes of play, a lovely piece of play by the Birkirkara FC players, was followed by a good shot by captain Michael Galea, which was unluckily cleared off the line by the Hibenians rear guard.

Seven minutes later, a typical overlap by Joseph Zerafa on the left-hand side of the pitch, was halted irregularly by the Hibs defense. The referee had no choice other than to award Birkirkara a penalty kick, from which Sylvano Comvalius made no mistake. 1-0.

Hibernians equalised with a fine shot, which Birkirkara's Spanish goalkeeper could do nothing to handle. All this after twenty-one minutes of play.

The first-half ended 1-1.

After fifty-seven minutes, 'The Stripes' were again leading the match, as Trevor Cilia performed a wonderful run, and after beating two Hibs defenders, he unleashed a great shot which flew into the net.

Just six minutes later, newly acquired Karl Pulo, skipped past the Hibernians goalkeeper, and directed his shot at goal, which was however cleared off the line by a 'Black and White' defender.

On the eighty minute mark, Hibs started to press for the equalising goal again, and they managed to achieve this, as Andrew Cohen cooly converted a penalty-kick after a foul in the Birkirkara FC penalty area.

The referee's full-time whistle found the Birkirkara supporters applauding their players for the good showings throughout this tournament.

Birkirkara FC captain Michael Galea was presented with the winners' trophy.
