Ini Akpan moves to Birkirkara FC

Birkirkara FC and Lija Athletic FC have reached an agreement over the permanent transfer of goalkeeper Ini Akpan. The Nigerian born, neutralised Maltese goalkeeper signed a five-year contract with our Club.

Ini Akpan is not a new face for Birkirkara FC as last season he enjoyed a one-year loan spell with our Club. Ini made his first appearance with the Stripes in the AME Cup where he was on an informal loan from Lija Athletic, and then returned to his Club.

However, Birkirkara reached a formal agreement over the loan transfer of the goalkeeper in October 2012 and he made his first appearance with our Club on the 27th October when he was included as a substitute in the narrow 1-0 victory over Hibernians.
