Stripes knock-out Greens and keep FA Trophy defence on track

Holders Birkirkara FC kept the FA Trophy defence bid on the right track on Wednesday evening, when thanks to two early goals and five-star performance, they outclassed opponents Floriana FC and emerged victorious with a 2-0 score and booked their place in the final four of the competition.

Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team completed their league commitments with a positive note when with the odd goal in five, they defeated Balzan FC with a 3-2 score thanks to a brace by Gianluca Zammit and Ayrton Attard.

Birkirkara FC Women's Team conceded their fourth defeat in the BOV Women's First Division League, when two goals in the second-half by Shona Zammit and Ylenia Carabott earned them a fine 2-0 victory which also meant that they secured the league title.

Birkirkara FC Under-19's Team advanced to the Semi-Final of the Youths' Knockout when thanks to an excellent performance yesterday evening, they defeated Mosta with a 3-2 score thanks to a goal each by Clint Zammit, Kurt Zammit and Matthew Guillaumier.

Birkirkara FC Under-17's Team fell to a 2-0 defeat to Pieta Hotspurs in the APS Bank Under-17's League Section A. Pieta emerged victorious thanks to a goal in each half to condemn the Stripes to their third consecutive defeat.

The Malta Football Association has announced that midfielder Ryan Scicluna has been suspended for one-match after collecting his fourth yellow card in the last match. Scicluna will be missing next Sunday's match against St. Andrew's FC.
